This is a post I made for the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada tonight, and I am reposting it here because I think it might be of interest to anyone who works a desk job. How do you balance the sit-at-desk nature of design work with the need for physical activity in your day-to-day …

RIP michael jackson
I thought it would be somewhat appropriate to give this mid 80’s Michael Jackson a newspaper-esque halftone treatment. As everyone’s probably already told you, Michael Jackson died this afternoon. I confess that I am not the biggest Michael Jackson fan. I own zero of his albums, but that is kind of why I am posting …
intertype linecasting machine
On one of our photogroffee trips this weekend past, we came across this Intertype linecasting machine at Whipple Tree Junction. It looked like it had been there for quite some time. I have posted a few more shots of this in my latest GDC post. More shots in this post after the cut.
out in the wild
A heads up – the new blog at www.gdc.net is live and I will be writing more about design there, as previously mentioned. Check it out if you’re into design! Also if you’re not into design, this might be a good opportunity to learn a bit more about it and what some of the broader …

I’ll be doing a tutorial later this afternoon on the …

It’s been over a year since we settled on a name for our photography business. Since then we have done a lot of shooting, setting up the business on the administrative side, collaborated on a logo and also made a website design. The website itself is powered by the content management system I work on …
a new challenge
Working full time and going to school at night means I have time to blog at .. midnight! And so it is midnight. Here are some of the things that have been catching my eye: Whitehouse.gov has been redone, complete with a blog and RSS feed. It’s still sinking in that there is a new …
nine inch nails live in victoria
Last Friday I saw Nine Inch Nails at the Memorial Arena. I have been a fan since a highschool friend named Cyril Woon decided to put on Pretty Hate Machine in 1994, 5 years after it had come out. It must have been 1994, because we were playing a card game that had just come …
