in preparation for talk like a pirate day, september 19th, we must know our own pirate names so that we may address ourselves in the third person.

A pirate’s life isn’t easy; it takes a tough person. That’s okay with you, though, since you are that person. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that’s okay, because it’s much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

    So Davin, you simply MUST tell me… Do you use a tripod for every one of your low-light shots or what? My G3 shoots absolute crap compared to your rig. What’s yer secret, matey? How is it yer be gettin’ such rich, vibrant pitchers? (Arrr…)

  7. Sim, I’ve got a G3 too. There’s a lot that goes into making a good pic that doesn’t have anything to do with the camera at all, such as composition — how things are arranged in your shot. That said, holding the camera still in low light is absolutely essential. Also, have you tried the “night” mode feature on your G3? It allows you to use a flash to light up the foreground, yet keeps the shutter open longer to allow lower light areas to “saturate” the shot. You can take some really neat shots this way.
