THE POWER IS YOURS

i work here
This was a rather odd weekend.
Saturday I worked from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and then went for dinner at Il Terazzo. I ended up going to sleep at 10 PM..
10 PM on Saturday night! Whoah, sounds like I have priorities, or something.
Sunday consisted of work. After work, I went up Mt. Tolmie with a friend from work to go see the Snowbirds fly around and do tricks for The Queen.
Well, there wasn’t much in terms of tricks. They flew around in circles for about 20 minutes in a diamond formation (ooOoooOoOooo) and then flew away. Yay. I guess The Queen likes donuts. It all seems like a bunch of hooplah for nothing to me.
The other day there was actually national media coverage to see The Queen step out of an airplane and hobble towards a vehicle.
Wow.
Can you believe that?
Good thing we have this media service to cover such exciting events.
Wouldn’t want to miss that.. really empowering stuff. Congrats on the great news finds, media people. I FEEL IT.
Yeah, so anyway..
I am now going to hobble from my computer to my bed.
Good night!

sasha ticket
The Sasha show last night was just huge. The Commodore Ballroom was a great venue. Lights and sounds were great and provided an intense atmosphere for the show.
Sean Cusick was .. sick. Very nice, not as good as Jimmy Van M, but still quite good.
Sasha arrived thirty minutes after he was supposed to go on the decks. He waited a few more minutes on stage before going on to play, which gave me a chance to give him a CDR of five of my music productions. I have my doubts about whether he’ll listen to it, but it is his job.. and the cover for the CDR is quite neat and nice looking. So maybe he will.
As usual, Sasha started at a moderate pace. . by the time he had been playing two and a half hours, it was full on pounding trance. And then all of a sudden, it was over!
I looked at my watch: 2:30 a.m.
Time for an encore, since this thing was supposedly going until 3:00 a.m. He put on his latest mashup — his own “Xpander” combined with Underworld’s classic “Cowgirl.” He played another encore track (sounded like some new Andy Page production, a massive trancey breakbeat track) and that was it.
3 hours went by really quickly. It was supposed to be a 4 hour set .. so I was kind of confused by this “ending early” business. The music was great but it had little or nothing to do with what was on the album Airdrawndagger. Not a single song from the new album was played — I was disappointed by that.
After that, about fifteen of us went to our pal Denny’s where I had a B.T.C.F.S. (a prize for whomever knows what that is) and everyone else ate as well. Then it was to the ferries to catch the 7 a.m. sailing.
I fell asleep for most of the journey back.

whoa

I was at work at 5 a.m. today!
We spent a good deal of time preparing lightbulbs for giveaways at Costco which are happening this weekend. From 5 – 9 a.m. we went through a few thousand C.F.L.’s. Yeah.
The rest of the day I spent helping out some of the people setting up a booth at London Drugs and driving extra lightbulbs around. It was a good day!
Tonight: Sasha. Vancouver. 4 hour set.
[say no more]

108,000 lightbulbs

Today myself and my cohorts at The Secret Location counted most of 108,000 lightbulbs. These are not just any lightbulbs.. they’re Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs. Duuuude! They’re worth about $10-$20 each.. and we’re giving them ALL away. Dude.
Yesterday was my website’s busiest day yet. I’m not sure why.
Time to get my stuff together and make my way out to Hush soon for myself and Yoseff’s weekly “Lift” residency. I missed last week as I had training and I’m not going to be able to stay very late tonight. It will still be good though!

THIS POST REVEALS ALL!

This weekend sleeping in was a luxury like no other.
🙂
Today I made a casarole that is so good that I don’t want to finish it, just so I’ll have some left.
This afterrnoon I mixed records with nickgurns.. if I had a shoutcast solution for OSX, I’d be using it. But I don’t .. and my searches have proved fruitless.
Alas.
I’ve started work on another CD .. somewhat based on the proton set.. so it will feature many of the same tracks, but in a CD length mix. Also it will have some other goodies in it that you likely wont hear anywhere else. 🙂
My first day of work is tomorrow, and unlike most of my other jobs (except the Ministry of Education), I feel adequately trained to start with confidence. This is good!
Geek stuff:
Krishen recommended an elite new RSS newsreader called NetNewsWire. Basically it reads headlines from news websites and collects the first paragraph for a sample of reading material. It keeps track of what you’ve read and what you have not read, and it automatically checks for new news every 30 minutes. The cool part is that with the version of moveable type that I am running, it’s coded so that entries on my blog and krishen’s blog count as news entries, and so this news reader picks up on whenever I or (more usefully) Krishen makes a new entry, it shows up as new news!

zope!

september

Today at work — the fourth day of work — we practiced the skit that we will be performing in Victoria elementary schools. At first I was kind of dreading it, but I knew it would be fun.. and I was right! I played the Wizard. I wore a Zope wizard’s hat and had a magic wand of Power(smart).
Tomorrow is our last day of training and then we start going out next week. Thursday we start at 5 a.m. and finish at noon. Later I will be heading to Vancouver to see Sasha play a 4 hour set with Sean Cusick / Sean Q6 opening up for him. This will be radcore!
Speaking of radcore, mr. lefty has hosted the Velocity set as well as the brand spankin’ new September 2002 Proton Radio mix I just finished. It clocks in at 2 hours and 11 minutes and is one hell of a dark ride.
Enjoy. 🙂
Last night I went swimming at the Commonwealth swimming pool. I had not been there in a very long time. I forgot what it was like to jump off thirty-three foot tower. Kind of like flying.. wooooooooooot!

second and third day of work

Day 2 was long but very informative at BC Hydro. Lots of interesting stuff. Did you know that C.F.L.’s (short for Compact Fluorescent Light) consume 75% less energy than normal lightbulbs that produce the same amount of lumens (light measurement unit)?!?!?!?!
Well now you do. Also they last 8-10 times as long as regular lightbulbs. Oooo!
🙂
It’s interesting stuff and the company is really organized and is doing a good job of training and getting all 26 new employees into the swing of things. Neaaat!
I’ve met several nice people as well. There seem to be a bunch of musicians in the group! That is definitely cool.
Time to go for coffee. 🙂
