Just picked up a Canon 50mm F1.4. Not only does this lens produce the beautiful shallow depth of field you see here, the extremely low aperture means that it performs incredibly well in low light. All part of the master plan you see...

Jitesh: The F1.8 is constructed in a fairly different way from the F1.4, which means I can expect to have the F1.4 around for a while longer than the F1.8 would last.

Also there are two full stops of speed difference.. which definitely makes a huge difference in low light. Now if only they made a version of this with image stabilization..
