i am so sick
- August 1, 2004

i am so sick of being treated like a second-class citizen in a city i have lived 26 years in. some people disgust me. especially the person in the photo above.
i was taking photos on the wharf, and was about to leave, when this guy came up to me and suggested that i "please leave." i told him politely i was already on my way out, when he said "you better leave now -- you're being watched, you have no idea what is going on."
fuck you! i'll be back after dark. thanks for attempting to ruin the day-portion of the symphony splash, asshole!

WHAT????????
I'm sorry Davin. Some people suck. A lot. Sigh.
bloody hell. these things never happen when I'm around to have fun with them. small-minded self-important ass-clamp.
i feel better now. me and nathan just went driving around town listening to NiN - Pretty Hate Machine really loud. that felt good!
PS: that guy can STILL go fuck himself. go fuck yourself, fucker!
good. glad you're feeling better. Pretty Hate Machine is good for that. I almost went around sabotaging boats and looking for total asshole pricks, but I was with my parents so I... just... listened to classy-cal music instead. Rock me Amadeus.
WHAT. AN. ASS!
he must be completely flaccid.
*hey, stop looking at me like that*
i am curious who was "watching" you. and what was "going on" that you had no idea about. maybe i was some sort of secret CSIS event and the symphony splash is just an elaborate cover.
You're being watched, you have no idea what's going on? WTF is he talking about? Man how do you just walk away from people like that? I woulda asked him what the hell was wrong with him and gotten in his face... but like I said before, I just can't help myself. I get it from my dad, he won't take anyones shit and you shouldn't either dammit! DIck heads like that need to know they are dick heads. I can understand why you don't want to push it any further though, it can take a lot outta you. But, if you aren't going to deal with it then I hope you can let it go, because that guy is the one with no idea what is going on and if you had just stayed he could have done nothing about it. What a prick he is. He looks like he had some kind of tag around his neck; was he part of the symphony?
yeah, what are the circumstances surrounding the issue, Davin? Where were you? What part of the wharf?
He's wearing a Bell lanyard, but I don't know who he is... Where were you when all that was happening?
james: it's hard for me to walk away from situations like that.. but all i can think of where it would escalate to.. and i really don't want my camera in the water! heh. those were my actual thoughts. i think he was wearing some sort of staff or sponsor tag. he kept hopping in and out of a boat tied up beside the barge until he came over to where i was and said "absolutely!" to many people walking by who had questions.
craig: i was on the wharf, outside of the sponsors area, where countless tourists were also taking pictures. a public spot. i was drinking a coffee from torafetziwhatever, and taking pictures.. macro shots, crowd shots, etc. that's all there is to it. seriously.
Davin.. I can understand your fear of getting the camera wet. I always consider that when going anywhere near the water. I like that you took the guys photo. Maybe that would give him pause. Submit a photo and a letter to the Times, you never know.
James.. I know a guy (let me make it immediately clear that he was never a friend) who “won’t take any shit”. He was at a hockey game when the man beside him wouldn't stand up for the Canadian anthem. So he said to him in a typical tough guy way "Stand up for the anthem asshole, what are you, American?". The guy sitting down said, "Are you stupid, shut the hell up!". Tough guy decided to punch the man sitting down in the face for his "lippy" comment. Turned out the guy was seated because he was confined to a WHEELCHAIR!! You can be too quick to “not take any shit”.
Everyone walks his or her own path when it comes to confrontation. Although I don’t always subscribe to the passive route, I believe it is generally the higher ground.
Good call... I like that... Give the media a call - they love to stir the pot... Let them know what happened... with photo!!
hey Dav... are you getting my emails?
david: wow, that guy sounds like a loser. sorry to hear you knew him somehow! i don't always subscribe to the passive route, but i tend to have a feeling when it is best to. which is almost all the time..
craig: my email has been down for the last week.. use my gmail address, which is the same daving now at gmail.com
word.
