this, lifted from the mikerowesoft.com website:

Wow, this is amazing. My site this morning went down because of the massive amounts of visitors coming to my site. 250000 to be exact. My host couldn’t handle the bandwidth so he was forced to shut it it down.”
EXACTLY 250,000. wow, that’s pretty strange!

it’s a matter of time

i hung out with charles and james last night. good conversation, and i got a chance to hear charles’ new tune which is quite a piece of IDM. really great — the man is so creative that it blows me away.
the blog victoria thing has come to a slow stop. it is time for a new domain since it’s been 2 or more months since the website has been made. maybe i’ll buy one of those cheap dot com domains and set the sucka up. i have been learning a lot about moveable type in the last while, and so i want to invite folks to the next moveable type meetup on February 9th — meetup.com – moveable type meetup for victoria.
i set up a WebDAV server last night so that i could publish my calendars (work, home, DJing) without having to get a dot mac account. pretty sweet, it’s working and my life at home, work and otherwise is now synchronised.
i have not had enough time to look through my pictures. notice the lack of pictures? the pictureblog thing is fun, but photoblogs.org has turned into a nonresponsive bunch and so that has taken a bit of wind out of my sails. adrian has taken some amazing shots lately which has given me some more energy in that area, but i am still lacking time.

2 Knights and Maidens

Once there were two knights and maidens
They’d walk together
Out in the gardens
In all kinds of weather
The knights always pestered the maidens
To love them together
Out in the gardens
And they could watch each other
The maidens had other plans for the two knights
They’d give them potions
And make them see dreams and lights
The knights took the potions gladly
They laughed at their visions
But outside the garden
Tigers smelled them together
The maidens had other plans for the two knights
They’d give them potions
And make them see dreams and lights
The knights only laughed at the tigers
They thought they were visions
Out in the garden
The maidens watched them together
Ah but for the two knights
Ah but for maidens
Who gave to them dreams and lights

Jim mentioned in his latest post that images bring him back to certain times in his life. this song came on iTunes a minute ago and brought back to many years ago (think 11 years ago) when i used to stay up late at night with matt and play magic, eat ketchup chips, and spill glasses of water on the floor.

the weekend of nonenvy

thursday night was groovy. it was great to see julie, morgan, james, kevin, leslie, tammi & gerry, paul and sandra out again — i had not seen them in a while and i miss them!
i played Dreamcache on thursday night, and it went over really well. there is not much that i am going to change with it.. maybe some bass drum variations, but it seemed to do really well. it was easy as @!#$ to mix, which is a good sign. the other really really really good sign was that i was able to take an idea from one of my dreams and turn it into reality. 2 years ago i would not have had a hope of doing that. this feels good.
boy, i had a messed up day yesterday. so many things went wrong that after all the stuff stopped going wrong, i still felt like something was going to go wrong. like, on the way from the radio station, i felt like someone was going to swerve into my lane and drive right into me. it was just a feeling. an awful one! boourns.
the bright spot of yesterday was definitely the hybrid show. i think i would like to catch up with them next week and pass them my new music demo, since they had a lot to do with the kind of sound i am going for. it’s not a rip off of their sound, but if you know the hybrid sound you can hear their influence in my music.
i think i want to change the size of the text on this here website. yeah, i just decreased it from 11 to 10. looks better, i think.
speaking of making websites, i whipped a couple of websites up for my friends matt and pete, who have both ventured far away from victoria. really they’re websites that are contained within davin.ws, using moveable type and gallery capabilities, but the sites are being used and that is really cool!

i am continuing to work on the new AFK website. AFK is my producing alias. i am making a FAQ section on the website for me. do you have questions for me that have to do with making music? please post a comment on this entry! pplllllllllllllllleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaseee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well, yesterday is over, and today has begun. so far, so good.

woo! that was shameless!
last night i finished pre-producing the hybrid show that will be airing on resonance this friday from 3-4 pm on 101.9 FM.
woo! that was shameless!
tonight i’ll be finishing off Dreamcache v. 2. version one was good, but it’s gone , gone, gone. the new version is much gooder (already) and does not sound too Magneticish. although you can tell it’s produced by me! it’s more melodic than Magnetic, which was a bit of a tech trance breakbeat stormer.
woo! that was shameless!
also i am almost done the website for AFK. content is almost on the way, design and construction is done, and the vhost is all set up. suhweet!
woo! that was shameless!

since i am at work, i don’t have the time to make a big post about how jim’s previous blog secretly existed on this server, or how the one before that was one of the key ones to inspire me to make my own blog, something that has caught on with many. i also don’t have time to mention how jim was one of the key people who got me interested in photography, primarily through his previous previous blog (girlrepair.com) and how we accidently met through it (sort of.) i, on top of that, don’t have time to say how jim is one of the people who has turned me back on to writing, something i had neglected (rave.victoria board moderation doesn’t count as writing) for the past several years.
but i do have time to post the URL!
